(Roodepoort, Florida, Maraisburg) Rudi Clench was aangestel as Voorsitter en Tessourier.

So is Golden Reef Road Runners gestig.Rudi Clench was Voorsitter tot 1978. Daarna was daar

Our Club 1973 – 2010   Part 1

In the early 70's there were a few inspired athletes. They had one problem. There were no club to join in the Westrand. They all decided to make a plan.

On 9 January 1973 the 3 founders of our Club, Rudi Clench, Arthur Whitney & Jan Kemp applied at the Transvaal Athletic Union to establish a Athletic club.

Because they did not had all the knowledge and aspects to start and manage a club Koos Keiser assisted them.
He was a Springbok 5000 & 10000m field Athlete which Coached the Black Carltonville Miners.

On 3 November 1973 the Transvaal Athletic Union approved their application and the Club RFM Athletic Club was registered.
The name was Compolsory as the Roodepoort Muncipailty were represented.
(Roodepoort, Florida, Maraisburg) Rudi Clench was appointed as Chairman & Treasurer.
He was later on also appointed as the Secretary of SA Cross Country. Rudi's home address (35 Fereira Street, Discover) were being used as Club House
for the first 6 months. For the next year the Club was in a store room in Florida High School. There they meet with Uncle Stoffie Stofberg which contributed
big to the grow of the Club. He was at that stage a Coach for the Children at the school. With his help we mange to obtain the Cecile Payne Athletics Grounds
and a Clubhouse.Florida High School and surrounding schools also start joining our club RFM under the Coach of Uncle Stoffie.

In 1975 we had 5 Athletes who particiapated for the first time under the Club Roodepoort RFM colours at the Comrades Marathon.
As RFM we had delivered in the first 5 years two (2) SA Champions. Annalize van Wermiskerken was the SA Champion in 5000 & 10000m Field.
Duckie Scheifer was the SA Marathon Champion.

About 1979 a group of Athletes (Mike Wilmot, Jona Lundie, John Saunders, Terry Smith At Dippenaar etc.) break away from our RFM Club as they wanted to
establish a Road Athletic Club only.
They didn't wanted Field Athletes in their Club. Golden Reef Road Runners was establish on this way. Rudi clench was Chairman until 1978.
After that Koos van der Merwe, Gavin Reddell and Martin Mans.

In 1983 Charlie Herselman was the Chairman until present 2016.
